Parking and toilet
My therapy room has off road parking and access to a toilet.
Covid 19
My therapy room is airy and well ventilated. The chairs are set 2m apart and I am fully vaccinated. If you are concerned about Covid I am happy to take a lateral flow test on the day of our appointment. Alternatively, we can have our sessions online via Zoom or sit outside (weather permitting).
What happens in the initial session?
I appreciate it can be daunting to meet a counsellor and I offer a half price initial session where we can meet and see if it would be a good idea for us to work together. During this session I will run through the counselling process and take some details about you, your circumstances, what you would like work on and what you would like to be different at the end of therapy. There will also be time for you to ask ask any questions and talk through any concerns you may have. If I'm not the right counsellor for you I can sign post you to other counsellors and organisations.
How many sessions of counselling will I need?
This is a really difficult question to answer. I usually suggest starting with 6 sessions and seeing how you feel at the end of these. We can then either end at this point or carry on until you feel you are ready to end. Some clients come back for top up sessions as and when they feel they need to.
Is counselling difficult?
The process of counselling can be challenging at times and create awareness of difficult, painful or embarrassing thoughts and emotions. I always work with your selfcare and safety in mind and we work at your pace to explore and process these emotions.
Who is counselling for?
Anyone can have counselling. Life events can happen to anyone at any time and different phases of life present their own challenges such as leaving home, having children and retirement. I am trained and insured to work with anyone aged 18 years old and older. However, there are counsellors who undertake additional training to work with under 18s.
Why did I train as a counsellor?
I found my teenage years difficult which affected my wellbeing for many years. It wasn't until my mid thirties when I experienced a life changing event that I had some counselling to help me process the impact it had on me. I found counselling enlightening and empowering and began 5 years of training. It's a privilege to support other people as I was supported back then.
